Bowood Farms& Cafe Osage

In Spring of 2018, Bowood Farms reached out about working together on a  more robust, and current digital experience for this hip, urban nursery & bistro nestled in one of the coolest neighborhoods of St. Louis: The Central West End.

The biggest missing piece to their old website was they just weren’t highlighting their unique story. It was basic store information, but there’s so much more going on with this business that their customers can connect with.

First and foremost, Bowood Farms grows all of their plants on their family farm in northern Missouri then ships them to their brick & mortar location every week.

Secondly, they have an incredibly unique business model: locally-grown plant-filled nursery, quaint bistro that grows all it’s ingredients on-site & sources meats and anything else from local purveyors, a studio that offers assorted classes from hand-lettering to fresh-cut floral arranging to hand dying fabrics. And then there’s the new shop Holliday that is essentially the very best of Etsy under one roof.

A little piece of heavenright around the corner.

Cafe Osage can do no wrong in our eyes. So when we kicked off this project, we knew deciding how to showcase the experience of this little hidden gem was going to be a major challenge. Luckily for us, we had a ton of incredible photography & videography from Imageclairity to support the design.

Obviously, for any restaurant website, the focus on the user-experience needs to be location, hours of operation and above all else: MENU.

But Cafe Osage also has these other equitable points to their model that create this wonderful draw for customers to dine there. So, after tackling the mandatories stated above, explaining the process of growing herbs and veggies on-site that then develop the entire menu is something that needed to shine without overpowering the information everybody already inherently wants.
